Day 15

July 16, 2008
Umatilla, Oregon
The Dalles, Oregon
108 miles (3-way relay)
1199 Total Miles

Heat, wind, hills, exhaustion then exhilaration, accomplishment and an unique educational experience. That is the essence of a PYL day on the road. Still in the eastern now central Washington/Oregon desert although the locals say it will be beautiful though windy sailing to the coast. Kudos to all the kids for many reasons including the following. Justin Dean (Never in the front, never in the back) and approaching a coast to coast journey. NBA Nate Kiger does not believe in gears but remains on a PA to Oregon trek. Dion Wallace: strong, intelligent, respectful, and will bike many miles for food. Chris Butera: 7 scars and a big smile as his growth has been exponential. Aaron Wakefield: quiet, enjoys the varied scenes, cultures and education as he has grown to be an ace cyclist. Paul Aaron dreams of a home cooked meal as he cycles sometimes quite strong, sometimes not. Staff Charles, Gordon and Big Justin are organized, efficient, encouraging and fun with the kids though have occasionally been known to crack the "approaching darkness get moving" whip. Also, thanks to the Munch for advice from afar.

You all sure made up for the light day with a vengance. Another century!! And with what some would consider insurmountable obstacles (hills, heat, wind, exhaustion). Fabulous, awesome, incredible. This definately shows what you all are made of... the "good stuff." You should all be proud of your notable accomplishment!! I am proud of all of you! Enjoy!

You guys are phenomenal! Not everyone can do what you are doing. Even if they could physically do it, they still may not be able to do it mentally or vise versa. You all got both! You should be very proud of yourselves. Staff, in addition to your own physical accomplishment you are guiding and motivating these young men along with you. Many props to you all! Again, thank you.

I am amazed at what some individuals can do. This type of trip takes a lot of physical and mental focus. You should all be very proud of yourselves.
