Day 11

Missoula, Montana
Kamiah, Idaho
119 miles (part relay)
871 Total Miles

Roads are doted on U.S. maps to signify either an exceptional scenic or historic route. Today we got both along the Lewis and Clark Trail into Idaho. The rich blue hue of the sky accented the sharp mountain gorge as we followed a 50 mile whitewater river valley. The 20 mile slow and steady climb became a steep 4 mile mountain climb to Lolo Pass and the Idaho state line at the peak, prompting one participant (name withheld) to claim his legs were too sore and cramped to even walk his bike to the peak! Much of this Idaho section is on the Nez Perce Indian Reservation rich with both their history and the Lewis and Clark expedition. One historical aspect absent in this wilderness area was a gas station as it was nearly 100 miles between stations. Beautiful country, beautiful day.

I proud of you all. Congratulations on each mountain climbed, each bend you go around, each valley you dip into. This is a tremendous accomplishment for each one of you. Keep up the great work. Thank you for all the pictures and the videos. The snowball battle looked like fun... Can't wait to see more. Be safe and enjoy!
